IG5: TLR & Reason win, Suffz & jIMMy voted MVPs

After two hectic days the champions have been crowned and following a community vote the MVPs have been announced. Aside from the delays on the first day the event went reasonable smoothly and the majority of the feedback has been positive. We would therefore like to thank everyone that attended, Omega Sektor for allowing us to host the event and to the sponsors, Kwari, Be Broadband and SteelSeries.

People have already started asking about dates for IG6 but at the current time we are taking a short break before looking into the next event. Rest assured that when we have things in place and are ready to announce IG6 we will and hopefully it will be just as good as IG4 and IG5.

BeThere sponsors IG5

With less than a week to go before IG5 opens its doors we are pleased to announce that BeThere, the UK's leading gaming ISP and broadband experts, have joined the cause and will be sponsoring the event.

They have very kindly agreed to add to the CS 1.6 prize fund which has now been raised to £1600 with the following breakdown:

1st = £800
2nd = £500
3rd = £300

From everyone at IG we would like to give a big thank you to BeThere for their support of the event and what promises to be two fantastic tournaments next weekend. The seeds, groups and timetables for both competitions will be released shortly and remember, when you aren't playing your tournament matches you can attempt to win some extra cash by diving into Kwari.

Kwari to invade IG5 so you can make a killing!

In an effort to make IG5 one of the best events of the year we are pleased to announce we have teamed up with Kwari to give you another opportunity to win some cold, hard cash. For those that don’t know, Kwari is a fast-paced, totally crazy, cross between UT and Quake 3 where you earn money by shooting your opponents, winning the map and unlocking jackpot keys. You purchase ammo to mutilate your opponents with and lose money by being shot. This combo makes for some frenetic game play and trust us, after being at the launch event it’s also pretty addictive!

Every player registered for IG5 will receive a special Kwari login for the event and then it’s up to you to battle it out for fame and glory. The two players that “earn” the most money during the course of the Kwari competition (1pm Saturday – 1pm Sunday) will walk away with £250 and £150 respectively. Another prize of £100 is being offered to the person who collects the most jackpots.

The rules are simple; you will get given an account balance and some ammo, hits mean money, the more money you have the better you are doing. If your account balance reaches zero you have been eliminated. To get more information on how Kwari works and the exact details of their competition at IG5 head over to the dedicated event page on the Kwari site.

Infinity-Gaming 5 Payment Opens and Rules Announced

Having had a good response from the community for both tournaments and the sign-ups starting to reach a level where there will be some fierce competition for the top prizes we can now announce that payment is open. All teams need to pay at least their deposit to secure their place in either tournament and this can be done via having all 5 players pay their individual deposits or a member of the team paying a single team deposit. More information about this can be found on the payment page which is available HERE.

On a side note we have also released the rules for both tournaments, the CS 1.6 rules are the same as they were for IG4 although we will be looking to do a public vote to determine the map pool closer to the event. The CS:Source rules were kindly written by Corin and should hopefully be in line with what most people are used to using. Any problems can be addressed to any of the admins in the Infinity-Gaming IRC channel.

- CS 1.6 Rules
- CS:Source Rules

Not much more left to say other than get those payments in and secure your place for what promises to be a great event to start 2008!

Infinity-Gaming 5 Announced!

With the success of IG4 and the KODE5 UK Qualifier it was only a matter of time until we put the plans in place for the next IG event and hopefully this one will be bigger and better than the last. After an extended period of absence before IG4 we are now aiming to make IG events a regular thing starting with IG5 this Spring. In a bid to continue providing for the UK communities across a variety of games IG5 will play host to CS 1.6 and Counterstrike:Source during the course of a weekend with the possibility of several other smaller tournaments yet to be confirmed.

What we can tell you though is the date that has been pencilled in for IG5 and some of the other vital information you need to such as the ticket price, tournament prizes and number of teams. You can find much of what you need below and on the specific IG5 page of this site.

- Date: Saturday 16th / Sunday 17th February
- Tournaments: 16 team CS 1.6, 16 team CS:S
- Cost: £35 per player
- Prizes: £1250 pot per tournament; 1st=£700, 2nd=£400, 3rd=£150
- Tournament format: Group stage followed by elimination bracket

Unfortunately due to the venue and the cost of operating an event of this style we have had to raise the ticket price but we hope that after the success of IG4 at Omega Sektor you know that not only is it a good venue and currently the best in the UK but it means you will get a good tournament on good spec machines. With regards to the prize money, this is an initial figure and will be subject to change if we can secure additional sponsorship for the event and if we raise the team limits for either tournament. On the format side of things, each one will have a group stage followed by an elimination phase but whether this is SE or DE will depend on the number of teams that register and pay their deposits.

Expect more information in the coming days/fortnight but at the moment sign-ups are opened so get yourselves and your team involved.
